4.  Carriacou has a three day event that takes place on the first weekend in August every year.  If you are competitive and love the ocean, then this will be the event you don’t want to miss!  Sailors and onlookers from all over the world gather together on this small island to show off their boat building skills.  While there, you will see work boats, racing boats, sailing boats and yachts all in one place for this unforgettable event.  Individuals and teams are present to partake in the series of sporting events and activities.  Lots of entertainment, including food and drinks.  Miss Aquaval Pageant also takes place that weekend.

5. The Mermaid Beach Hotel is a lovely, modern, little hotel directly on a beautiful stretch of beach. The hotel is also located on the main street in Hillsborough, close to restaurants and shops.  Pleasant, bright rooms with simple minimal furnishings.  If you get the ocean front top floor room, the view is beautiful. There are 2 big windows facing the ocean. There is a connected restaurant next door.  You will  enjoy getting to know this delightful island and some of its excellent restaurants and of course rum punch on the beach! Bliss!
